My museum is looking into relocating to an old school building. Our current place, built in 1887, is in need of costly repairs. We're out of collections/exhibits space as well.
We have the opportunity to move into a 1915 school that has had to keep up with repairs and major building needs as it is currently operating as an elementary school. It still has its quirks, of course.
Some of our major donors aren't happy because they have invested so much into our current location over the last 26 years. My board is interested in hearing other's experiences with major relocations and any advice that you all may have for donor relations on something like this.
Thank you in advance!
