Portland Art Museum

The Oregon Museums Association (OMA) is a nonprofit educational membership organization whose mission is to support the museums of Oregon.

Founded in 1978, the Oregon Museums Association (OMA) is a non-profit membership organization that provides resources and services to over 200 museums, cultural institutions and associated professionals throughout Oregon. 

OMA serves as an advocate for museums who actively promote the collection, preservation, exhibition, and interpretation of artistic, historic, scientific and cultural materials, sites, practices, and ideas.

Our Mission

OMA's mission is to provide professional development and networking opportunities to build the capacity of Oregon's museums. Offering learning opportunities through regional workshops, an annual conference, newsletters and web-based communications, OMA helps to foster and connect industry professionals with practical resources to support the success of all Oregon museums. 

Get involved! How to parter with OMA

As an OMA member, there are several ways to be a part of the online and in-person community.

If you’d like to get more involved, we are looking for persons with the following skills and enthusiasm:

  • Funding. Help us search for and write grants.
  • Social media. Help with our social media accounts.
  • Membership. Invite local museums in your area to join OMA.
  • Advocacy. Monitor state and local activities and create alerts for our members.
  • Research. Help fill in the information about Oregon museums on our website.
  • Writing. Write an article for our newsletter or website.
