This webinar is intended to help historians connect their existing aptitudes and skills to the process of institutional grant writing. It is not an all-encompassing or even detailed "How To" on the grant writing craft; it is a look at how a professional historian already engages in most of the common doings of the grant writer, and how the use of those skills can prove beneficial to both the historian and the organization with which they are associated.

Presenter Bio:

Lori Shea Kuechler is a grant consultant, author, and college instructor. Her first publication was The Portland Police Sunshine Division: An Early History. She is also the author of the book; Historians are Grant Writers: Grant Writers are Historians. Lori has a MAIS from Marylhurst University completing a thesis titled The Mercy of the Soil: The Relevance of Phenomenological Hermeneutics to Oral History. Lori retired as Grant Manager at OHS in 2015 and is the author of over $29 million dollars in successful foundation and governmental grants for educational, historical, cultural, economic development, and human service agencies. She was a Representative to the Oregon House of Representatives for HD 52 and is currently an adjunct Liberal Arts instructor at Southern New Hampshire University.

Born in Seattle, Washington, and raised throughout the Pacific Northwest, she now resides halfway up Mt. Hood, on a small plot of land with her husband, Wayne Kuechler, two dogs, two cats, and five chickens.
