Description
The Keizer Heritage Museum, located at 980 Chemawa Road NE in Keizer, Oregon, is dedicated to celebrating, collecting, promoting, preserving, and exploring the history of the City of Keizer, its culture, people, and surrounding areas.
Housed within the historic 1916 Keizer School building, now known as the Keizer Cultural Center, the museum shares this space with other community-focused organizations, including the Keizer Art Association, Keizer Community Library, and Keizer Homegrown Theater.
The museum's exhibits showcase various aspects of Keizer's heritage, featuring permanent and temporary displays that delve into the founding Keizer family, the old Keizer school, local farms, businesses, and notable families from the community. Visitors can explore historical items, images, and documents, providing a comprehensive understanding of the area's past.
The Keizer Heritage Foundation, established in 1988, oversees the museum's operations. The foundation was instrumental in preserving the old Keizer School building, relocating it to its current site next to Keizer City Hall, and restoring it to serve as a cultural hub for the community.
