The Heritage Museum interprets life of early inhabitants of Independence, Monmouth, and Buena Vista and what life was like on the Willamette River from the early 1800's to present. Exhibits include medical technology, everyday living, the hops industry and agriculture as well as the transitions of the early business in Independence. Decades of high school class pictures line our entry way. A room is dedicated to blacksmithing and woodworking of all kinds. Our 1959 covered wagon and other vehicles are exhibited near the war memorial that begins with the Spanish American War and goes through Desert Storm. We encourage young people to engage in research, digital story-telling, and internships at our facility. Our archives are available for research and the nonprofit board of the Heritage Museum Society is in the midst of a capital campaign to facilitate access for everyone.
