Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals is a Smithsonian Affiliate earth science and fine mineral museum nestled into the farmland in the Helvetia area of Hillsboro, Oregon. The museum is home to a world-class collection of thousands of rocks, minerals, gems, fossils, and lapidary arts, including the famous Alma Rose rhodochrosite specimen. The museum is housed in the 1952 home of Richard and Helen Rice, a site listed on the National Register of Historic Places as an excellent example of mid-century architecture and notable stone, native wood, and tile work.
