American Association for State & Local History (AASLH)
1-year contract position with possibility of renewal on an annual basis
Compensation: $1200 per course session; minimum two course sessions with a max of three sessions held per calendar year
The Museum Education & Outreach online course instructor is a contract position with AASLH. The online course instructor is expected to teach to the goals of the online course as determined by the AASLH Professional Development Manager.
The instructor is responsible for teaching to the course curriculum, updating the curriculum as needed, welcoming students to the course, responding to students’ assignments prior to the next assignment deadline, answering content and other non-technical questions, conducting online class chats, administering and grading quizzes and tests, coordinating other class activities as outlined in the syllabus, and assigning final grades.
The Museum Education & Outreach online course is part of the AASLH Small Museum Pro! certificate program. Small Museum Pro! is a professional certificate program for history practitioners who work or would like to work, in small history-minded organizations. It provides practical guidance and education on a variety of topics. To receive a certificate, applicants must complete and pass five courses from the program.
Review of applications will begin August 5 and continue until the position is filled. The selected candidate will be expected to teach the fall 2020 session of the course that runs September 14 - November 8, 2020.
