Resilience: Responding to Change

September 9, 10 and 11, 2018 

As we convene in Hood River this year we will be thinking about ways in which we have shown resilience in our institutions and communities. We hope to see you in September!

Call for Session Proposals - deadline extended

Present at the 2018 Conference! Professionals with various backgrounds from across the region are invited to submit proposals that focus on resilience as it relates to community engagement, inclusion and equity, public outreach, fundraising, new skills and innovative ideas.

We will be considering a wide range of proposal topics such as collections, exhibits, education, board and volunteer management and programming. Proposals can be for:

  • Workshops (Half-day or full-day)
  • Lectures (75 minutes)
  • Panels (75 minutes)
  • Tours (Half-day or full-day during pre-conference; 75 minutes during conference)

Please complete the proposal form by July 31, 2018.

Conference stipends

We are pleased to announce $250 Annual Conference stipends for students and first-time attendees in the OMA community.

  1. Student. Must be a student enrolled in a museum studies, free-choice learning, history, public history, or other related program.

  2. First time attendee. Must be working/volunteering in the museum profession and be a first-time attendee to the OMA Annual Conference.

Apply now! Application deadline August 1, 2018.  Successful applicants will be notified by August 5, 2018.


See the draft schedule for the 3-day conference. The Conference will include half-day workshops on Sunday, September 9 and sessions, panels, tours, and networking opportunities on Monday and Tuesday, September 10-11, 2018. 

The Oregon Museums Association annual meeting of members will occur durinlunch on Monday, September 10, 2018.

The official Conference hotel is The Historic Hood River Hotel. We have a limited number of rooms reserved at $159 + tax per night for conference guests. See lodging information.
