Portland Children’s Museum - Where Imagination Lives!
Children grow up fast. Don’t let another moment go by before planning a trip just for them. A day at the Portland Children’s Museum is a day where they can really play, and be independent in a safe environment meant just for them.
Where else can your kids jump into a Dig Pit to play with big trucks, scoop out “dirt” and stay clean and safe? Our Water Works exhibit encourages children to splash around, fill buckets, move water on a conveyer and watch a 12-foot waterfall. Off to stage right, thousands of budding actors enter The Dorothea Lensch Play It Again Theater complete with a ticket booth, lights to run and a sound stage where little brother can press the “Banana Peel” sound effect over and over…and over.
Visit the Clay Studio and The Garage where creations take form and become priceless family artifacts. Around the corner, classrooms of the Opal School and Opal Preschool put the Museum in the forefront of exploring how children learn and emphasize the mission of the Museum: To inspire imagination, creativity and the wonder of learning in children and adults by inviting moments of shared discovery.
