Housed in the first "ranch style" home to be accepted into the National Register of Historic Places in Hillsboro, Oregon, is one of the top mineral museums in the nation. The Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks & Minerals contains exquisite minerals, crystals, fossils, meteorites, fluorescents and the "Best of the Northwest".
Thanks to contributions by many other collectors, the museum collections continue to grow and change, making it a favorite destination for over 25,000 visitors, tourists, families, and various groups throughout the year. Education in earth science is a primary focus for our daily school tours and helps scout groups complete badge requirements.
The Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks & Minerals is located in a park-like setting amongst 23 acres of old growth evergreen trees. Large lawns and a floral rock garden make it a popular site for weddings, receptions, family reunions, corporate outings, parties, and other special events. Whether you are interested in earth sciences or the unique architecture of this historic site, you'll have a grand time at the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks & Minerals.
Group tours, weddings, birthday parties, and special events by appointment.
