Seasonal Part-Time Education and Event Assistant

Description:    Job Summary:

This position is busiest April through September. In spring you will assist museum personnel with the education and instruction of children in our living history pioneer village program. We have three C.1850s museums with different educational historic activities, as education assistant you would be the lead in one of the museum buildings. Any interest in elementary education or history is a benefit for this position. As we move into summer weekly assistance with various seasonal events including weddings, concerts in the grass and a 4th of July party! You would help set up and tear down events and keep an eye on the grounds while they are in progress. Must be available for training days in February and March with regular work starting in April. This job is a great opportunity for someone just starting out in an educational field or wanting to get into event organization.

Duties:        Essential Duties & Responsibilities   

  • Greet and assist in teaching museum activities and curriculum

  • Be willing to wear period costume for educational events

  • Organize up to 30 children at a time in conjunction with teacher and chaperone support

  • Assist where needed in event set up

  • Assist with wedding coordination

  • Assist staff with various house keeping tasks including but not limited to dusting, window cleaning, cleaning floors and polishing furniture

  • Must be able to use Google calendar/ Google docs

  • Have reliable transportation

  • Be punctual

  • This position is supervised by the Museum Director

  • Have a food handlers card

   Working Conditions:

  • As needed part time/ seasonal

  • Must be available evenings and weekends as well as week days

  • Physical Demands:  Lift up to 25 pounds; bend; stoop; walk; climb ladders/stairs; push/pull equipment up to 50 pounds; kneel; talk, see and hear; sit.
