Senior City Planner


The City of Portland is wanting to hire a senior city planner (urban design specialty) who would be responsible for designing and managing all aspects of specialized and complex planning projects and programs, including serving as team leader, project manager, or Bureau expert. Senior City Planners work independently to assign, direct, review, monitor and integrate the work of staff, consultants, and other specialists on complex, controversial, and/or politically sensitive projects. Duties include identifying and solving problems, creating effective long- and short-term solutions, through the application of zoning; land use planning; site planning, including infrastructure, environmental, and urban design considerations; and economic development and real estate development theory and practices. Among the minimum qualifications is knowledge of and experience with architectural design, styles, history, and historic preservation.
