Business Development Associate

Regular, Full-Time

Do you love sales but want to sell a product you can believe in? The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is looking to grow its offerings of educational camps, classes and outreach programs in Portland and across Oregon. A successful sale for OMSI means more children and families learn the critical hands on science, technology and design skills needed in our rapidly changing world.

What you'll do

Your success will be a measured in the amount of new business you generate. Success will come from

progress in three key areas: first, sales strategy: understanding our fundamental business drivers, our products and services, the needs of our customers and the strengths and weaknesses of our competitors. We will look to you to assess an opportunity for its potential to create long-term value, determine the paths available to pursue it, and understanding the trade-offs of choosing one path vs. another. Second, sales execution: the process of navigating through a variety of different organizations, identifying key decision-makers, uncovering their unmet needs, and concisely demonstrating the value of what OMSI can offer. Lastly, relationship management: building and maintaining an expansive network to help facilitate a deal.

What you'll need

  • Field tested knowledge of effective marketing and sales techniques.

  • Ability to prospect, sell and close, and effectively develop and expand client base.

  • Able to work with people from diverse backgrounds in the corporate and educational sector.

  • High energy and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume sales environment.

  • Highly articulate with superior interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Understanding of confidentiality and protocol.

  • Excellent time management skills.
