Located in the Sumpter Valley Dredge State Heritage Area, the Sumpter Valley Dredge is one of the largest and most accessible gold dredges in the U.S. and the last of three dredges built on the Powder River. Built in 1935, it was operational until 1954. During that timeframe, it dug up more than four million dollars worth of gold.

The dredge itself is closed in winter, but the trail around it is open all year. Call 1-800- 551-6949 for information.
