Constructed in 1934 by the U.S. Coast Guard as a lifesaving station, the Point Orford Historical Society manages the museum located with in the 105 acre Port Orford Heads State Park. Exhibits of both Coast Guard and regional history including a 36-foot lifeboat are on display in the Chatham-type structure.

The state park has excellent hiking trails on the headlands affording spectacular views up and down the Pacific Coast.
