Siuslaw Pioneer Museum

Admission: Adults $3, children under age 12 and Members free.

The Siuslaw Pioneer Museum features artifacts and displays featuring the early settlers, loggers and fishermen from the days when the river was the highway. The museum's Research Library has documentary information regarding the local history and pioneer families. An audio-visual presentation shows a brief history of Florence along with information on early shipwrecks.

On February 1, 2006, the Siuslaw Pioneer Museum moved to its new location at 278 Maple Street in Florence historic “Old Town” at the corner of Maple and Second Streets. We are in the old school building that was constructed in 1905, preserving our local history in one of our historic locations. The museum is located are only one block from US Highway 101 at the corner of Maple and Second Street, right at the entrance to Old Town.

The Siuslaw Pioneer Museum is closed Thanksgiving through the end of January. However, we open for organized groups by appointment only, and also for special occasions. We are also closed on Easter Sunday.
