Transforming Memories to Treasured Heirlooms

Preserving objects and stories; documenting today for the future; and presenting the stories of yesterday, today, Willoheart Enterprises transforms memories to heirlooms treasured by families and communities.

Katherine Huit spent many years working behind the scenes in museums processing, preserving and documenting donations for research and exhibition use. Along the way, she met Dr. Sherene Suchy, author of Family Memory Making: Matching Stories to Heirlooms. Assisting Dr. Suchy with a pilot workshop, titled History Begins at Home, reinforced Katherine’s quest to help individuals, families, organizations and communities preserve their historical assets, heirlooms and the stories that accompany them.

Huit founded Willoheart Enterprises as a venue for her creative skills and passion for history and heritage preservation. Her writing and editing, curatorial, archival, interpretive exhibit, and documentary production experience form the foundation of Willoheart.

Family members pass down objects complemented by stories, because they become ‘treasures.' Through Willoheart’s Family Treasures(TM) program, Katherine teaches family members oral history and object preservation techniques, which create unique heirlooms for appreciation by future generations.  To learn more, email Katherine: willoheart@viclink.com.

Every community has a distinct history. Through Willoheart’s Community Treasures(TM) program, Katherine teaches museum / historical society volunteers and staff the professional standards for long-term preservation of artifacts and archive materials donated to them by members of their community, ensuring future use for research and public exhibits.
