The Clatsop County Historical Society offers three distinctively different museums all housed in historic buildings for you and your family to explore during your visit to Astoria.

Captain George Flavel House

8th & Duane Streets
May – Sept, 10am – 5pm daily; Oct – April, 11am – 4pm daily.
Adult: $5, AAA/Senior/Student: $4, Youth (6-17 yrs): $2, Children under 6: Free, Family: $15.

Experience the luxury and elegance of the late Victorian period by touring the Captain George Flavel House. The 1885 Queen Anne Victorian home features origin
al Eastlake style woodwork interiors, and exotic hardwood fireplaces with imported tile surrounds. Enjoy a walk through the park-like grounds and view many of the trees planted by the Flavel's over a century ago.


Heritage Museum

Explore the history of Clatsop County: The Native Americans, the early pioneers, the immigrants and local industries. Discovery the County's colorful past in the Vice and Virtue exhibit, a partially restored Astoria Saloon.

 

Archives & Research Library located at the Heritage Museum and is open to the public.

10 am – 3pm, Tues – Friday.
Adult: $4, AAA/Senior: $3, Youth (6-17): $2, Research Pass (for 2 weeks): $5


Built in 1904, as
Astoria's City Hall, this building now houses the Clatsop County Historical Society's regional museum and administrative offices and archives. Galleries feature changing and permanent exhibits about natural history, geology, industries & commerce, occupations & pastimes, and the people of this historically rich area.

This museum houses an extensive collection of fire fighting equipment dating from 1879 to 1963. Featured are hand-pulled, horse-drawn, and motorized fire engines, as well as, fire fighting memorabilia and photos. A great favorite for kids of
all ages!
