Discover some of Eastern Oregon’s cultural and social heritage through photos and artifacts that bring to light the region's natural history, Native Americans, Hot Lake and the life of early area settlers. In the early days, Union County covered most of Northeast Oregon and the Union County Museum Society strives to encompass Union County from then to now.
Enjoy Zack the talking cowboy, part of the celebrated Cowboys Then & Now exhibit. It is a special feature of the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show, the oldest show of its kind in the Northwest. In it's 100th year, this annual show of horse and livestock, market animal auction, rodeo and pari-mutuel racing is celebrating a century of tradition.
Agriculture, timber and transportation, a blacksmith and livery stable and a typical pioneer family cabin exhibits are being designed and will be the finishing touch of the story that portrays Union County.
The Union County Museum is operated solely by volunteers with revenues coming from memberships, donations, museum store sales, admissions and occasional grants.
