The Oregon Museums Association (OMA) is a nonprofit educational membership organization whose mission is to support the museums of Oregon. Founded in 1978, the OMA currently represents more than 200 Oregon museums and industry professionals from art museums, history museums, children’s museums, science museums, and specialty museums, to museum curators, directors, board members, exhibit designers, development officers, volunteers, archivists, and educators.

 The OMA's current initiatives include:

• Publishing a newsletter, the OMA Dispatch.
• Monthly emailed announcements in the OMA E-Dispatch 
• Hosting and maintaining a website about Oregon museums.
• Sponsoring an annual membership meeting and conference, along with two regional meetings at locations throughout the state.
• Developing educational programming that supports the administrative efforts of museum managers, staff and volunteers. 
• Publishing and distributing the biennial OMA Guidebook to Oregon Museums, which is distributed to museums, visitor centers and chambers of commerce statewide.
• Making museums and professionals aware of legislation that might affect their operations.
• Keeping legislators and representatives informed about museum affairs and their impact on Oregon’s culture, economy and livability.
